Well, for all the whooptidoo I whipped myself into, about the glories of film and Serious Camera Equipment, that yesterday got me to swear off both Facebook (it can't be done, there is no exit from Facebook) and digital cameras in one facile, self-righteous swoop, and which kept me up late looking at images and up early still dreaming of them, as soon as I got my camera bag packed and one foot out the door I hesitated, left the apartment door wide open as I went back in and stuck the digital snapshooter into my camera bag after all: I simply didn't have the balls to leave the digital snapshooter behind.

Marking Time

Returned to the scene of the crime, so to speak, the s-bahn Humboldthain, on Sunday evening on my way to TangoLoft, and this time lugging two cameras alongside my dance shoes in the fancy-schmancy Crumpler bag that has kept the Hasselblad warm for years.  Pulling out the Hasselblad and replacing it with the Mamiya 6x7 seemed ok, but adding the dance shoes, digital camera, water bottle, change of shirt and socks, was unsettling -- as if I am making some sort of pact with the devil: some deal which could go either way.  I hope this will be a productive combination and not some sort of self-defeating trick.  But given the many things I have to do I must find a way to fit the photo-making into my daily routine if I am to do it more often. Plus, I'm challenged by the idea of making spook in everyday city places on my way from here to there. Also, talking about photos in process, as I am here, seems a risky proposition.  What ambivalence!
